Hey up Mathew and anyone who gets added to this group.
Idea that seems to be one we're running with is what me and Mathew worked on in one of early exercises.
Two people, brother and sister,
Brother is a serious office worker. He is stuck in a routine in life. Ever since his sister ran away due to a arguement with their parents he has tried to be future of family and sacrificed his own life and desires.
She is a recklose avoiding anything stressful. SHe is laid back and travels around playing her guitar to earn money here and there.
The plot is he sees her playing on street one day. After trying to talk to her and her avoiding him all out refusing to go home, he finds the only way to bring his sister back is by entering her world of music.
He performs wherever she goes. The result ends in a contest between the two.

Regarding guitarist idea, Suzannah contacted me, she's concerned bout who will be playing instruments. While I haven't discussed this yet thinking music secondary to characters. We just need give impression they're playing.
ReplyDeleteSeems to me in five to ten minutes them playing full songs silly. And this is more character driven.
As for location maybe next weekend we go round asking small bars if they would let us film at one on quiet night?
Rest of locations i'm sure are easily obtainable.
Actors may be slight problem. But between us I believe if we use some friends we could make up numbers. I have some old friends who did media at college so do ave some experience
I think the idea take influences from "coyote ugly" Particularly with shots when she is playing. And way nerves effect people on stage.

Timetabling, after this we have five week to film and edit. This week will have to be used for recces. Two week filming, two week editing and time to spare
ReplyDeleteHey Everyone, am a little worried as I seem to be only one writing on here.
ReplyDeleteSo far plan seems to be wait til middle of this week allowing actors time to reply. As tutors i emailed replied Thursday saying they would ask there students it's not likely they will get request til today or tomorrow.
Rough schedule seems to be get everything filmed before December and edit in two and bit weeks. This will allow time while one of us edits to go back and get any small extra footage we may have missed and allow plenty of time.
Beyond this i intend to review two films of similar genre on here. Music and Lyrics and Coyote ugly.
Music and Lyrics
ReplyDeletethe film is about a struggling pop writer [Hugh Grant] who confronted by a request to make a new song enlists help writing from the unlikely source of the lady who waters his plants.
She however is afraid to sing and do that kind of thing. As such he has to help her with her personal problems to get her tp help.
Unlike ours they have most of singing in a recording studio. They do use montarge and impression of singing more than real song on camera. This is where my idea of this came from as otherwise actors need be musically talented which at short delay isn't possible.
Another note with this it limits extras needed. This could be a good alternate ending if big sing off ending in our script doesn't look possible we decorate a room to make look like a recording studio. Have friend a dj or something.
Not sure if stylelistic view of this film should be same though as this film is quirky hollywood style film. WHere's ours is more broody hard life lesson. This underlying theme i believe dictates we use a more darker natured shots to light as a undertone
Evolving the idea, we are using recuring events. Such as his day in office. With CU's of pen clicking, typing, scanning, and such we create a routine. As the story progresses we subtly add to this.
ReplyDeleteWas inspired by "the Shining" with it's terrific use of our colour that we add something to his desk each repeat. As he gets more closer to sister we add more colour to office in each repeat
With Repetition intention is to create a contrast.
ReplyDeleteBy this what is intended to be created is a rhythm. A metaphor for his life.Same old. Will screach in guitar cutting through this rhythm as it breaks through his daily pattern. Like start with clocking in, typing, scan, pen, stapling, spin clock a hour repeat, spin clock a hour begin to repeat, guitar.
